The 2’s Class
The focus at this age level is on socialization and co-operative play. In this developmental stage, children mostly engage in parallel play. Both teacher & parents help facilitate interactive play by encouraging & modeling taking turns and sharing.
The children learn the classroom routines & are encouraged to follow simple rules. They work on sitting in a circle during story time, with an emphasis on quietly listening & sharing ideas when appropriate. Other learning activities include arts & crafts centers, sensory table, singing & dancing and free play. Most importantly, they learn that school is a safe & fun place to be.
The 2’s class begins with a period of free play, breaks for handwashing and snack time, and is then followed by outdoor play/recess (weather permitting).
A nutritious snack is typically provided by class members on a rotating basis.
